Where We Be
A poolside table for two at Zavaz, a Caribbean-themed restaurant at the Azul Sensatori Resort
Mayan Riviera, Mexico
Here's a little taste of paradise during winter! Lovely connected pools at the Azul Sensatori, with poolside beds for lounging, and oceanside palapas just beyond
Picture this: a row of beach beds built on stilts
situated right at the ocean’s edge so you can hear
the waves lapping against the shore. Each bed
includes pillows for two and a rough latticework
“ceiling” that allows filtered sunlight to reach you
as you lounge in complete bliss. You stare out at
the blue-green Caribbean waters. Every half hour
or so a smiling attendant stops by and asks what
you'd like to drink next; she brings your frozen
concoctions right to you on the beach beds. Since
it's an all-inclusive, you don't have to worry about
money or tipping or anything else except enjoying
every last moment of your time there. If it gets any
more relaxing than this, I'd like to know about it.

We spent ten days at the Azul Sensatori and El
Dorado resorts on the Mayan Riviera just south of
Cancun. Each resort offered a wide range of food
options from Italian to sushi to Mexican. Le Chique
at the Azul Sensatori was particularly memorable:
listed as one of the top 25 restaurants in Mexico, it
offered up an eight-course tasting menu from a
Michelin-trained chef -- one of our best meals ever!

At El Dorado we thoroughly enjoyed the company
of our friends Richard and Kristy as we celebrated
their daughter's wedding -- the reason for our trip
in the first place...as if we needed a reason!
These "beach couches" at El Dorado offer a shady retreat from the hot sun and a lovely ocean view. We spent a whole day lounging at one of them with our friends.
Do we look relaxed or what? You have to work to be unhappy in a place like this!
This lovely stretch of beach at El Dorado was the setting for the wedding we attended -- how romantic!
The wedding took place here -- this picture was taken near sunset just before the guests were seated

Richard can't resist the donkey photo op! We had a great time with the whole family!
Certainly a fun aspect of the all-inclusive experience is trying new drink concoctions! (from left to right: margarita, electric lemonade, mudslide, midori colada, mojito)
