Where We Be
We enjoyed pulled-pork sandwiches and ceviche at a poolside table for two at Zavaz, a Caribbean-themed restaurant at Azul Sensatori
|
A little taste of paradise in winter! Connected pools at the Azul Sensatori, with poolside beds for lounging and oceanside palapas just beyond.
|
These "beach couches" at El Dorado offered a shady retreat from the hot sun and a lovely ocean view. We spent a whole day lounging at one of them with our friends.
|
Do we look relaxed or what? You have to work to be unhappy in a place like this!
|
This lovely stretch of beach at El Dorado was the setting for the wedding we attended
|
This picture was taken near sunset just before the wedding guests were seated
|
Daughter Holly walks down the "aisle" with Richard. We've known Holly since she was a little girl selling girl scout cookies.
|
Certainly a fun aspect of the all-inclusive experience is trying new drink concoctions (from left to right: margarita, electric lemonade, mudslide, midori colada, mojito)
|
Picture this: a row of beach beds built on stilts
situated at the ocean’s edge so you can hear
the waves lapping on the shore. Each bed
includes pillows for two and a latticed “ceiling”
allowing filtered sunlight to reach you as you
lounge. You gaze blissfully at the blue-green
Caribbean waters. Every half hour or so a
smiling attendant asks what you'd like to drink
next, and she brings your frozen concoctions
right to you. Since it's all-inclusive, you don't
have to worry about money. If it gets any more
relaxing than this, we'd like to know about it.
We spent ten days at the Azul Sensatori and El
Dorado resorts on the Mayan Riviera just south
of Cancun. Each resort offered a wide range of
restaurant options. Le Chique at Azul Sensatori
was especially memorable. Listed as one of the
top 25 restaurants in all of Mexico, it offered up
an eight-course tasting menu from a Michelin-
trained chef -- one of our best meals ever.
At El Dorado we enjoyed the company of our
good friends Richard & Kristy as we celebrated
their daughter's wedding -- the reason for our
trip in the first place...as if we needed a reason!
Azul Sensatori is the kind of all-inclusive resort that makes you want to come back again and again
|
We were upgraded to an enormous room with a jacuzzi tub overlooking the pool at Azul Sensatori. We had our own "pool butler" who brought us drinks, and he even asked what scent we wanted on our pillows!
|
At the Mojito Bar we tried mango and strawberry mojitos while sitting outside on a balcony overlooking the resort
|
This wasn't our first trip to the Mayan Riviera. Way back in 1995 we took a fantastic trip to Akumal and Cancun, snorkeling our hearts out at Xel-Ha and Half Moon Bay and visiting the ruins at Tulum and Coba. We were 32 years old and just starting to save for early retirement. So you see, we were already traveling well before starting a webpage.
