Where We Be
"Mediterranean Empires" Cruise
This was our second Mediterranean cruise and
one we'll always remember for introducing us to
such amazing ports of call as Athens, Istanbul,
and Ephesus. We spent 12 days aboard Holland
America's Nieuw Amsterdam, the newest ship in
Holland's fleet. The cruise began and ended in
Venice, and what a wonderful city to have as a
launching-off point. The trip was port-intensive,
with only two days at sea, but we made the most
of the fine dining and entertainment on board.

Our first port of call was Split (Croatia), followed
by a day at sea, then in quick succession we
visited Athens (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey),
Mykonos (Greece), Ephesus (Turkey), Santorini
(Greece), and Katakolon (Greece). We had one
more day at sea before returning to Venice.
Delicious meals in good company are always a cruise highlight
