Where We Be
Peacham is "quintessential Vermont" with its
white steepled church, red barn, and autumn colors
Vermont in Autumn
A short trip through Vermont gave us a taste of
the splendors this state has to offer in autumn:

QUECHEE GORGE is Vermont's deepest gorge
at 165 feet deep and makes for a pleasant hike.

WOODSTOCK is sometimes called the prettiest
town in America. It has loads of charm, from
covered bridges to historic New England
homes to a walkable downtown full of shops.

SUGARBUSH FARMS is a fun place to visit for
free samples of cheese and maple syrup, and
SIMON PEARCE glassblowing is one of many
arts and craft shops in the area worth a visit.

SCENIC ROUTE 100 is considered one of the
best fall foliage drives in Vermont. Although we
arrived a week or so too early for peak foliage,
we loved our surprise visit to BEN & JERRY'S
ice cream factory just outside Stowe.

PEACHAM (shown left) is a tiny hamlet that's
almost impossibly picturesque in autumn.

Art galleries and craft shops abound in Woodstock, many
focusing on the spectacular autumn scenery to be had here
Simon Pearce glassblowing shop doubles as a restaurant,
offering fine views of this waterfall with covered bridge
A leisurely hour's walk took us from the dam at one end of this free state park,
to a bridge overlook in the middle, to the base of the gorge at the other end
Once you've tasted the free samples of cheese and maple syrup at Sugarbush Farms
(near Woodstock), you'll be hard-pressed not to buy something yummy to bring home
We were too early for peak foliage along Route 100 and surrounds,
but we still enjoyed the scenic drive connecting Killington to Stowe
While no ice cream factory tours were available on a Monday, we loved
seeing Ben & Jerry's Cowmobile and especially the Flavor Graveyard
If you'd like to capture this perfect Peacham view for yourself, enter 57 Macks Mountain Road
into your GPS, park near the red firehouse, and walk out into the field. Late afternoon is ideal.
We stayed at Emergo Farm B&B in Danville for our second and final night
in Vermont. It's a sixth-generation working farm dating back to 1858.
